Since Friday was a federal holiday (Juneteenth), decided to make a quick trip to the Bighorn for a few hours of fishing. Most rivers are still muddy from runoff this time of year, but the Bighorn stays fairly consistent for most of the year from a steady flow from the Yellowtail dam. Usually, you can catch the occasional Brown or Rainbow on a fly outside the main flow.

This trip ended up being mostly pulling algae off the hook. I floated a PMD over a few browns I saw but they weren’t interested. I chatted with a few others on the trail to the parking lot. It sounds like everyone wading was getting skunked. Next time I’ll bring the raft out so I can float the main channel.

Even though I was catching algae, it was still more exciting than a day at work.
